17 Apr 12 The Association Secretary regrets to inform you of the death of Ex WO2 (QMSI) Dennis 'Dusty' Rhodes who passed away on the 13th April 2012 at the William Harvey Hospital Ashford Kent. He transferred from the Royal Scots Fusiliers in 1954 and served at the Support Weapons Wing Netheravon and Pendine until his retirement in 1964. His funeral will take place on the 26th April 2012 at the Catholic Church Of Our Lady Help Of Christians at 10.00 followed by cremation at Hawkinge crematorium at 11.00. Dusty is survived by his wife Eirwen and son John.

Death of Former Comdt Depot SASC

Colonel John Grundy, late RRW who was Commandant Depot SASC from 1989 until 1992 (and also of Mor Div Netheravon in the mid 1960s) passed away on 27 March. A service of thanksgiving will take place at Llandaff Cathedral on Monday 30 April at 1430.

The Association Secretary regrets to inform you of the death of Ex WO2 (QMSI) Tom Colyer, aged 93, who passed away on Saturday 25th February 2012 at Whistable Tankerton Hospital. Tom transferred from the Sherwood Foresters Regiment in 1944 and retired from the Corps in 1963, and later became a member of the Yeoman of the Guard. Tom is survived by his wife Edna and daughter Rosemary.

The Association Secretary regrets to inform you of the death of Chris Stockley, wife of Major (Retd) Alan Stockley, on Thursday 23rd February 2012. Chris passed away peacefully, at home and with her family at the bedside.

The funeral will take place at Bramcote Crematorium on Tuesday 6th March at 12.30pm. Alan has asked for no flowers, but donations would be welcome to Marie Curie Cancer Care.

 

 
23 Feb 12 The Association Secretary regrets to inform you of the death of Ex WO2 (QMSI) Peter Clift, aged 88, who passed away on Friday 17th February 2012 at Medway Hospital in Kent.  Peter, who transferred from the Loyal Regiment, served at the Support Weapons Wing Netheravon from the early fifties through until he retired 1963. The funeral will take place at the Garden of England Crematorium at Sheppey Way, Bobbing, nr Sittingbourne, Kent on Wednesday 29th February at 11.00hrs.  Peter is survived by his son Roger and daughters Patricia and Ingrid.

The Association Secretary regrets to inform you of the death of Ex WO1 (SMI) Seamus O'Neill, aged 52, passed away on Tuesday 21 February 2012 after a short illness.  Seamus transferred from the Irish Guards in 1988 and retired in 2007 from the Long Service List.  Seamus is survived by his wife Caroline and their children.
Funeral is to be held on Tuesday 6th March at 10.30am at
St Winifreds Church, Belton Street, Shepstead. LE12 9BB
(Shepstead is near to Loughborough close to 23 of the M1)

Major (Retd) Andy Atkinson will represent the Comrades Association.

The Association Secretary SASC regrets to inform SASC Comrades of the death on Friday 13th Jan 2012 of Ex QMSI John Newman at Derby aged 84.
John served in the Corps from 1957 to 1970 on the Mortar Division at Netheravon having transferred from the Sherwood Foresters Regiment.

No further details are available.

The Association Secretary SASC regrets to inform SASC Comrades of the death on Thursday 5th Jan 2012 of Ex QMSI George McKinley at Salisbury Disyrict Hospital.

Information received via Jim Ross.

We are advised that George McKinley's brothers have collected his body for repatriation to and for burial in Eire. No further details available.

The Association Secretary SASC regrets to inform SASC Comrades of the death on Thursday 20th October of Mrs Evelyn May Barnett, wife of the late Billy Barnett GC at Folkestone, Kent.

The funeral will be held at 11:20 on Thursday 3rd November at Charing Crematorium, Newcourt Wood, Charing, Ashford, Kent TN27 0EB.

From the Secretary Comrades Association. We regret to advise members of the death of Charlie Stavrou, ( BFC Range Superintendent) who served British Forces in Cyprus for 50 years, was an honorary member of the Comrades Association, and was known to many Corps Members,

Charlie passed away on 7th March and condolences have been extended to Costas (Charlie's son-in-law) who is also Range Superintendent.

From the Secretary Comrades Association. We regret to advise members of the death of Ex WO2 Brian (Doc) Halliday on Saturday 2 July 201. Graveside Funeral was held at Ystalyfera Cemetery at 2pm on Wednesday 13th July. For detail provided by Paul Livesey from IJLB website select details.

From the Corps Adjutant: We regret to advise members of the sudden death on Firay 1st July 2011 of Ex WO1 Pete Blackburn this past weekend. The funeral will be at Semington Crematorium at 1.45pm on Wednesday 13th July. All who knew him are welcome to attend. No flowers please.

From Lt Col (Retd) G Lacey. We have been advised that Ex QMSI Sid Taylor (Mortar Div Netheravon) passed away on Friday 9th May at Salisbury following an illness. Funeral is in Salisbury on Friday 20th May. No details yet available. The Corps was notified through John Barnard by Janet Taylor.

From Corps Adjt SASC - We have been advised of the death of Ex SSgt Bill Lewis who passed away on Saturday 26th February 2011.

Bill joined the SASC from the Light Infantry in 1986 and served at Warminster on Skill at Arms Wing followed by Officer/Sniper Division. He left the Corps in 1988.

He married Sue in 1986 and they had two daughters Claire and Annabel, and although they subsequently divorced, Sue and daughters visited him the day prior to his death.

We offer belated condolences to Sue and the girls.
