Hythe Remembrance Weekend 2011

12/13 November

Eve of Remembrance took place in the Garrison Sergeants Mess, Burgoyne Barracks, Shorncliffe with kind permission of WO1 John (GSM) Garrity. WO2 (DSM) Stuart organised the event, unfortunately SSgt’s, Parkinson and Stewart were deployed in Afghan and in Kenya, respectively.

In addition to the retired members of the Comrades Association who can always be relied upon to attend it was good to see some new and returning faces. Due to the fast pace of operations, as well as other SASC commitments, only a handful of serving members were in attendance.

The parade formed up at the Hythe Memorial on what was like a summer morning more like June and not November which made the parade one to remember. This was then followed by the march through the High Street for the March past on Sunday the 13 th November. The Commanding Officer laid the SASC Wreath and the Standard Bearer was Major (Retd) John Patterson
