Annual Reunion Weekend and AGM 2009

The Annual Re-union and 63rd AGM of the SASC Comrades Association were held at Warminster on the weekend of the 25/26 July 2009.

 

Starting at 1845 hours, the AGM was chaired by the Commandant SASC Colonel E D Brown, MBE. The meeting was kept brief and businesslike and Lt Col Will Paterson addressed the meeting having recently assumed the appointment of CI SASC.

 

AGM Officials CI SASC announced that Sgt Gurung had achieved squad selection for the Army and GB team pending his imminent family movements from the far east. Five SASC achieved the Army 100 this year and two in the Pistol XX. Of the five in the '100' two were newcomers, WO2(DSM) Robinson, Sgt (SI) Stewart, and they were each presented with their Army 100 Badge by the Commandant SASC.

QMSI Seaman in the Chair after winning HM The Queen's MedalThe Regimental Secretary announced that the Comrades Association had purchased at auction the Queens Medal of QMSI Seaman won at Bisley in 1952 Army Rifle Championship. The medal will be displayed in the SASC Room of the Weapons Collection.

 

 

Capt (Retd) David Cuthbertson won the retired members draw (£116), 2nd was Lt Col (Retd) David Evans ( £87). The serving members draw was won by Capt Kieran MacMahon (£86.50) and second was Major Chris Rose (£64.50).

 

During the AGM the ladies attended a Cocktail Party, after which 95 sat down to Supper, followed by a Disco in the bar area.
